With the living space of their home divided by walls, John & Carole felt confined and knew it was time for a change. Openness, flow and functionality were high priorities when it came to recreating spaces in their home. A spacious kitchen and large area to gather as a family were also important. In search of a Lancaster, PA builder that was experienced with performing a whole house renovation, John and Carole found Metzler Home Builders.

An addition including a family room and sunroom provided the family gathering space. The foyer, kitchen, dining room, laundry and side entrance were completely revamped. The dining room was moved to the front of the home and the kitchen moved to the back to allow for formal dining and a larger airy kitchen. Distinctive arches were utilized throughout the project to provide flow and allow open spaces that will be enjoyed for years to come.

Matt and Karen's home had met their needs for many years. The number of bedrooms, bathrooms, and the compact kitchen were sufficient through the early years. Even the basement that was finished by a previous owner was livable. As their family grew, the needs for their home grew as well. It became evident the existing spaces needed modification. The only thing that stood in their way was tackling a whole house renovation.

When Matt & Karen contacted Metzler Home Builders, their list of criteria and ideas was plentiful. For the first floor; an expanded kitchen with space to gather, an eating area for six to eight people and an expanded garage topped the list. On the second floor; four bedrooms, a play room, storage space and another bath were essential. Blending the existing and new, both on the interior and exterior of the addition, were important as well.

A few years later, when it was time to update the basement, the ideas were abundant as well. Unique craftsmanship and inventive techniques are used throughout the project. Be sure to check out the pictures, they may spark some ideas.

After inheriting a 1970's ranch home, Greg & Janice were not only faced with the task of cleaning out the home, but they also needed to determine what should happen with the property. After much thought, they realized this home provided an excellent opportunity for them to move from their three story row home to one floor living in a detached home. The only thing that stood in their way was tackling a whole house renovation.

For Greg and Janice this was no simple task. The home's limited square footage and 1970's architecture with low ceilings and confined spaces were drawbacks. Working with Metzler Home Builders, they began to see the potential of this home meeting their desires. An addition to the home allowed for expansion of the floor plan and freedom in space planning. With the grandeur of higher ceilings and the welcoming Craftsman style design, this home became a place to retire.
